وكان منتخب مصر قد تأهل إلى هذا الدور بعد تصدره مجموعته في الدور التمهيدي بالعلامة الكاملة، حيث فاز على السعودية بنتيجة 35-30، وتغلب على البحرين 28-19، قبل أن يحقق انتصارًا مثيرًا على إسبانيا بنتيجة 30-29.

Liverpool’s chances of securing a treble in Arne Slot’s first season in charge of the club were quashed against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Reds were beaten on penalties by the French giants after a 1-1 draw on aggregate with Luis Enrique’s team, as Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones both missed their spot-kicks in the shootout.
Slot’s side now need to turn their attention to the League Cup final clash with Newcastle United at Wembley on Sunday, which is their chance to land another trophy alongside what seems like an inevitable Premier League title success.
Liverpool, though, may have gone into their clash with PSG on Tuesday night with confidence that they could go through, as they were 1-0 up on aggregate and playing in front of their home crowd.
Unfortunately, however, Ousmane Dembele and his impressive teammates had other ideas, as the France international scored the goal that ultimately took the game to penalties, which led to Gianluigi Donnarumma’s heroics.
The former Barcelona man was exceptional across the two legs and it is hard to argue with him being on the team that ultimately went through to the next round.

Dembele created three chances, scored one goal, and completed a whopping seven dribbles across the two legs, whilst he also scored his penalty in the shootout.
His performances against Liverpool were not a one or two-off phenomenon, though, as he has been in incredible form for PSG throughout the season.
As you can see in the graphic above, the French wizard has almost averaged a goal or an assist every game in all competitions for the Ligue 1 side, which speaks to his ability to consistently make a big impact at the top end of the pitch.
The 27-year-old star is hitting his peak, almost eight years on from his move to Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund for a mouth-watering reported fee of £135.5m in the summer of 2017.
Dembele had racked up ten goals and 20 assists in all competitions for Dortmund in the 2016/17 campaign to earn that valuation, yet he has produced even more in front of goal in the current term and is worth considerably less.
Now, Transfermarkt currently values Dembele at just £46m – a stark decline from the £135.5m fee Barcelona once agreed for his services.
He is, of course, seven years older and that experience is telling, as the winger has found his consistency at the top end of the pitch, which PSG are now benefitting from.

As you can see in the table above, four of Slot’s starters against the French side in the Champions League are currently more valuable than the former Barcelona flop.
Nunez, of course, came off the bench and missed one of the penalties in the shoot-out, and the former Benfica man will be hoping to bounce back in the League Cup final to prove his worth.
Unfortunately, Cody Gakpo had to come on as a substitute on his return to fitness, having not played since February, and the Reds missed the quality he can provide at his best.
The Dutch attacker has been in terrific form this season for Slot, proving his worth on the left flank for Liverpool, and his value has soared as a result of that.

Jurgen Klopp swooped to sign the attacker from Dutch giants PSV in the January transfer window at the start of 2023 for a reported fee of just £35m.
He scored seven goals and provided three assists in 26 appearances during the second half of that season, before a return of 16 goals and six assists in 53 matches in his first full campaign at Anfield under the German boss.
Gakpo has already scored 16 goals and assisted five in just 39 appearances for the club in all competitions under Slot this term, which shows that he has improved his output in the final third.
The 25-year-old star, who reporter Beth Lindop claimed is having an “extraordinary” season, has proven his ability to be a consistent goal threat for the Reds, and they missed him in the first leg against PSG and as a starter in the second leg.

As you can see in the table above, his form over the last year has been comparable to some of Europe’s best wingers, including Dembele’s PSG teammate Bradley Barcola and Premier League superstar Bukayo Saka.
Liverpool hit the jackpot when they signed him for just £35m from PSG because, alongside his excellent performances, he is currently worth £50m – as per Transfermarkt – and that is £4m more than Dembele and £15m more than the club paid for him at the start of 2023.

Ratcliffe said: “If you look at the players we are buying this summer, that we didn’t buy, we’re buying Antony, we’re buying Casemiro, we’re buying Onana, we’re buying Hojlund, we’re buying Sancho. These are all things from the past, whether we like it or not, we’ve inherited those things and have to sort that out.”
He added: “Some are not good enough and some probably are overpaid, but for us to mould the squad that we are fully responsible for, and accountable for, will take time.”

The Cameroon international, who has been a regular under Ruben Amorim, is wanted in Saudi Arabia and looks set to be sold over the coming months. However, the club are also kicking themselves at a more recent addition who could follow Onana out of Manchester.

According to a report from Spain, Man Utd regret signing Joshua Zirkzee and already want him out of Old Trafford.
The forward, who signed for just over £36m from Bologna last summer and was the first addition under Ratcliffe, has struggled to make an impact in England, scoring just six goals in 44 games, something which has raised doubts for United’s coaching team and staff.

The report adds on Zirkzee that the ‘possibility of a sale is already being considered from the boardroom if an offer comes in that allows for a partial recovery of the investment made’.
Talking earlier this year, pundit Jamie O’Hara slammed the Red Devils and singled out Zirkzee for criticism, calling the forward an “imposter” and “one of the worst players” he’s seen for Man Utd.

“Yeah, they [breaks] are rare to come by,” Cummins prefaced his answer on the importance of having a break when players’ workloads have been immense across the three formats, including franchise-based tournaments.”So, yeah, we try and take a break when we can. I’ve always said that we have got six Test matches in the next two months, I’d much prefer to be slightly underdone than overdone. That’s from a bowler’s point of view. I always feel like it doesn’t take too much to kind of get ready. And then I want to make sure I’m fresh physically for the matches.”Cummins opted out of this year’s IPL – a decision he had taken well before he left the India tour after the first two Tests for family reasons. At an ICC event to celebrate Test cricket on Sunday at The Oval, Cummins said his team was ready for India, having arrived in London “refreshed” on the back of a three-day training camp in Beckenham.”We have had some really good training at Beckenham the last week,” he said. “Obviously back home, we did a lot of training as well. So coming in fresh without any cricket, is that better? Or is it coming in maybe slightly jaded, slightly tired on the back of an IPL, but having played a lot of cricket leading in? So there’s lots of factors that could show up through the course of this week.”Rohit Sharma: ‘Talk to yourself and be mentally ready’The India players will have to make the switch from the white Kookaburra to the red Dukes, but Rohit Sharma feels this challenge is no longer new to the modern-day player. Instead, the youngsters in the team should focus on the mental aspect, he said.”If you’re going to play, this is something that you have to come up with mentally. You got to be adaptable, adjust whatever little tweak you need to do in your technique,” he said. “But more than that, I think it’s just talking to yourself and getting mentally ready. You have to believe Rohit. He was the leading run-scorer at the 2019 ODI World Cup, played in the same part of the world, with 648 runs in nine innings, which included five centuries and a half-century. On his following trip in 2021 (spilling into 2022), he top-scored for India in the Tests, hitting a match-winning century at The Oval in the fourth Test.If there is one thing he has learned as a batter in England, it’s that “you are never in”.”England, in general, is pretty challenging conditions for the batters, but as long as you are prepared to have a good grind, you know, you can have some success as a batter,” he said. “One thing I realised batting [in 2021] was you are never in actually because the weather keeps changing a lot. So you got to keep concentrating for longer periods of time and that is the challenge of this format. You know, you’ll get that message or you can get that intuition when is your time to take the bowler on and that is when you should be ready for it and more importantly, you need to be there.”And if you maintain that focus, Rohit said it can be easy to make runs at The Oval. “As we know that this is probably one of the best batting wickets as well,” he said. “You get value for your shots, the square boundaries are quite quick. So it’s just about giving yourself the best chance of having success, which is to concentrate for longer periods of time.”

وكان إمام عاشور تعرض للإصابة بكسر في عظمة الترقوة في مباراة الأهلي الأولى أمام إنتر ميامي الأمريكي بكأس العالم للأندية، وغاب عن باقي مباريات البطولة بسبب تلك الإصابة.

وقال جاب الله خلال تصريحات عبر الموقع الرسمي للأهلي: “إمام عاشور، لاعب وسط الفريق، تحسنت حالته بشكل كبير بعد جراحة الترقوة التي أجراها في أمريكا، عقب الإصابة التي تعرض لها في مباراة افتتاح بطولة كأس العالم للأندية”.
وأضاف: “اللاعب خضع للفحص الطبي خلال الـ 48 ساعة الماضية، وتقرر أن يبدأ العلاج الطبيعي خلال أسبوع على الأكثر”.
وأنهى الأهلي مشاركته مؤخرًا في بطولة كأس العالم للأندية، بعدما احتل المركز الرابع والأخير في ترتيب مجموعته الأولى برصيد نقطتين.
وتعادل الأهلي مع إنتر ميامي الأمريكي 0-0، ثم خسر أمام بالميراس البرازيلي 2-0، قبل أن يتعادل إيجابيًا مع بورتو البرتغالي 4-4.
