فاجأ خورخي سامباولي نادي مارسيليا الفرنسي، يوم الجمعة، بمغادرة النادي بعد أسابيع من قيادته الفريق للعودة إلى دوري أبطال أوروبا.

قاد المدرب البالغ من العمر 62 عامًا فريق مارسيليا إلى المركز الثاني بشكل مثير للإعجاب في الدوري الفرنسي الموسم الماضي لكنه قرر الرحيل وسط خلاف حول استراتيجية انتقالات النادي.

وفقًا لمراسل شبكة “سي بي إس سبورتس”، بن جاكوبس، شعر الأرجنتيني على وجه الخصوص أنه كان ينبغي لمسؤولي النادي فعل المزيد للاحتفاظ بخدمات ويليام صليبا في صفقة دائمة.

تم إرسال اللاعب البالغ من العمر 21 عامًا على سبيل الإعارة من قبل آرسنال الصيف الماضي ولعب دورًا محوريًا في موسم مارسيليا الناجح، وفاز بجائزة أفضل لاعب شاب في الدوري الفرنسي لهذا الموسم.

بعد رحيل سامباولي، أصدر مارسيليا بيانًا جاء فيه: “نود أن نتقدم بخالص الشكر إلى سامباولي على عمله، بعد 16 شهرًا من التعاون، مكّن هذا العمل النادي من اتخاذ خطوة إلى الأمام في بناء مشروعه الرياضي الجديد والتأهل مباشرة لدوري أبطال أوروبا”.

وأضاف: “نحن راضون عن التقدم المحرز والعواطف التي مررنا بها معًا، ولكن بعد تفكير طويل اتفق الطرفان اللذان يعملان لصالح مشروع مارسيليا، على وضع حد لهذه المرحلة”.

Albie and Morne Morkel have become the first brothers in 56 years to be named as South African Cricket Annual Cricketers of the Year in the same season. The Morkels won the award for 2008 along with Monde Zondeki, Johan Botha and Dillon du Preez, who were revealed as the five recipients in Johannesburg on Monday.The last brothers to receive the honour in the same year were Athol and Eric Rowan in 1952 – the first time the awards were presented. Other sets of siblings to have been handed the title, although in different years, include Graeme and Peter Pollock, Peter and Gary Kirsten, and Peter and Robbie Muzzell.The allrounder Albie Morkel has spent much of the past season trying to establish himself in South Africa’s ODI side as a potential successor to Lance Klusener and Shaun Pollock. He also had a productive time in the IPL, where he averaged 34.41 with the bat and collected 17 wickets to help the Chennai Super Kings reach the final.His younger brother Morne Morkel has taken a more conventional path to success over the past year as he became a key member of South Africa’s Test fast-bowling attack. He was South Africa’s leading wicket-taker in the Test series win in England, where he collected 15 wickets at 33.46.Botha, the offspinning allrounder, was rewarded for a season during which he was a consistent contributor in South Africa’s one-day team and earned the vice-captaincy of the side for their upcoming matches. The progress was particularly pleasing for Botha after he reworked his bowling action having been reported during January 2006.Zondeki and du Preez were recognised for being the leading wicket-takers during the domestic season. du Preez eventually finished just in front with 55 wickets at 16.90 as he helped the Eagles to the SuperSport Series title.Zondeki picked up five five-wicket hauls in his collection of 54 victims for the Cape Cobras. Also a strong contributor for South Africa A, Zondeki was rewarded with call-ups in the national squad for the tours of India and England.

What’s the word?

The versatile 24-year-old midfielder had been in talks over a move to Premier League rivals Everton on loan with an option to buy, per The Athletic’s David Ornstein early on Monday morning.

However, the Gunners have performed a U-turn on their stance since then, according to The Mirror’s chief football writer John Cross, who delivered the fresh claim to Twitter later this afternoon.

Maitland-Niles has barely been given a chance under Mikel Arteta in recent times, having to go to relegated West Brom on loan in January, whilst he played only 48 minutes of competitive action since his return this summer.

The England international has already vented his frustrations at a lack of game time amid the seemingly failed move to Goodison Park, taking to Instagram to say (via football.london’s Chris Wheatley): “All I wanna do is go where I’m wanted and where I’m gonna play @arsenal”

As a result, plenty of the Emirates Stadium have vented their frustrations and anger over the situation.

Arteta was lambasted as a “clown” by one supporter, another urged the club to “let him go” to Everton, whilst a further fan suggested that the saga reflected how poorly the club was being run, as relayed by Caught Offside.

The Gunners’ season couldn’t have got off to a worse start as Arteta and his squad have lost all three of their opening Premier League matches, including a recent 5-0 drubbing by Manchester City.

Maitland-Niles cannot even get into the squad despite all of their defensive struggles and his desire to play at right-back, so it’s no wonder that he wants to leave.

The £14.4m-rated academy graduate started only five league games before being shipped out to the Baggies last season and whilst this move would be another temporary spell away from north London, he could garner some funds next summer.

Arteta also has plenty of options at right-back, including Hector Bellerin, Cedric and Calum Chambers, which is another reason for Maitland-Niles’ recent exclusion.

Therefore, it really is a perplexing move to not sanction his exit before Tuesday’s 11pm deadline and it is why so many are fuming at the club.

Although they failed to pull off their first series victory over a major Test-playing nation, Bangladesh, who’d lost several regulars to the ICL, gained in confidence during the contest.That confidence showed as their new-ball bowlers – Mashrafe Mortaza and Syed Rasel – accounted for both openers, reducing New Zealand to 13 for 2. The New Zealand top order had collapsed in the first two one-dayers but How and Taylor averted a repeat by putting on a century stand.Taylor scored his third ODI century while How provided the early momentum during his 73 to help New Zealand reach 249, their highest total of the series. How sparked off the recovery, scoring quickly to put the pressure back on the bowlers. Mortaza’s first four overs went for just five runs, but How opened up with two fours in each of the next two overs.Taylor took time to get his eye in, but neither batsmen let Abdur Razzak, the left-arm spinner, settle. O São Paulo está negociando com o Atlético-MG para contratar o meia-atacante Maicosuel, de 30 anos. O jogador confirmou as conversas neste domingo, no vestiário do Allianz Parque, após defender o Galo diante do Palmeiras.

Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge revealed that Crystal Palace wanted to sign Eddie Nketiah for weeks, eventually settling on a move for Odsonne Edouard on deadline day.

Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports posted on his personal Twitter on Monday that Palace were still pushing to sign Nketiah but there was a gap in the valuation and that there was also an unnamed German club in the mix also.

BBC Sport then reported on Tuesday that Crystal Palace had agreed a deal worth £15m with Celtic to bring striker Edouard to Selhurst Park, and obviously there was an issue regarding Nketiah given Bridge believes Palace have wanted to sign the Gunners man for a number of weeks in the lead up to the 11pm deadline.

“They were in talks for weeks with Arsenal over Eddie Nketiah. They’ve said to Arsenal ‘we’re not going to go above £12million we actually think that’s probably a bit too much’, but Arsenal have said ’20, he’s out of contract at the end of the season’,” the Sky Sports reporter told Transfer Tavern.

Throughout his Arsenal career, Nketiah has featured attacker has also featured out on both the right and left-wing showing versatility to his game.

Having failed to secure a move to a Selhurst Park or elsewhere, it remains to be seen how Mikel Arteta will use Nketiah in the coming months, while the Eagles will be hoping Edouard hits the ground running with Patrick Vieira’s side struggling to find the net in the opening weeks of the campaign.
