Lucien Favre features on Newcastle United’s list of potential replacements for Steve Bruce, according to The Daily Mail’s Craig Hope. 

The lowdown

The expectation is that the 60-year-old will be relieved of his post imminently following the completion of the PIF takeover at St James’ Park.

Favre’s two-and-a-half year stint as Borussia Dortmund manager came to an end last December when he was sacked amid a poor run of form (via BBC Sport).

The Swiss native, who has also managed the likes of Nice and Hertha Berlin, took 68 victories from his 110 matches as Dortmund boss. That equates to a win percentage of just under 62% (via Transfermarkt).

In a tweet, Hope claimed: “[I] understand ex-Dortmund boss Lucien Favre is among those being discussed.”

He is just one name on the owners’ shortlist, which also features Leicester City’s Brendan Rodgers and Rangers’ Steven Gerrard.

The verdict

When discussing if Favre would be a good fit for Celtic back in March, football commentator Derek Rae raised some key concerns, saying that his personality didn’t seem to align with the ‘passionate and emotional nature’ of Dortmund and that his drive for possession is ‘sometimes overdone if anything’.

Rae also noted that Favre was ‘a coach, not a British-style manager’.

In light of this, can we really say that Favre is the right fit for Newcastle, a club renowned for its passionate fan base? Perhaps not.

The PCB has filed a case in a Lahore court against the ICC’s decision to move the headquarters of the 2011 World Cup from Lahore to Mumbai. This effectively heightens the row over the decision to remove Pakistan as a co-host for the 2011 World Cup.”The (ICC) board has no authority to move the secretariat and that’s why we have filed the case,” the PCB’s legal adviser Tafazzul Rizvi told . “We have to fight all out against a decision which is legally flawed and to step up our pressure, we have sued the ICC, IDI (ICC Development International) and the Central Organising Committee (for) World Cup 2011.”The IDI gave the World Cup to four countries… so the ICC Executive Board was not entitled to take a decision on a World Cup move, only the annual general meeting can take such a decision.”Rizvi added that until an ICC dispute committee or the the Swiss-based Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) resolve the case, the World Cup Secretariat could not be moved out of Pakistan. “Pakistan can also claim a relief on the relocation of the secretariat,” he said.A civil judge, Mohammad Younis Anis, sent notices to the ICC, IDI – the ICC’s commercial arm – and the tournament’s central organising committee to respond to the PCB’s suit by May 18. “The judge has recorded our preliminary statement, now let’s see how the three parties respond to the notices.”The PCB served a legal notice to the ICC after cricket’s governing body had stripped Pakistan of its rights to co-host the 2011 World Cup, following the terrorist attack in Lahore when gunmen attacked the Sri Lankan team bus. The £7.2m-rated gem’s added physical strength and energy could see him bully an Arsenal midfield who looked very lightweight in that 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace on Monday night, with both of their goals conceded coming as a result of being pinched in possession.

As per Sofascore, Ramsey averages 4.3 duels won and 1.7 tackles per game, which is actually significantly more than what Villa’s most defensively-minded midfielder, Marvelous Nakamba, has managed (just 2.4 duels won and 0.4 tackles per match).

The English starlet’s ability to cover the ground and be more of a box-to-box threat could be crucial to hurting Arsenal in transition if they can catch them out high up the pitch or breaking from deep.

Either way, Ramsey feels like he could be a game-changer for Villa.

علّق أنتوني، لاعب فريق أياكس الهولندي، على اهتمام نادي مانشستر يونايتد بالحصول على خدماته في موسم الانتقالات الصيفي الحالي.

ويُعد أنتوني أحد أهداف المدير الفني لفريق مانشستر يونايتد، إريك تين هاج، خاصة أنه سبق للأخير العمل مع اللاعب عندما كان مدربًا للفريق الهولندي.

وقال أنتوني في تصريحات نشرتها شبكة “TheEuropeanLad” الإنجليزية، عندما سُئل عما إذا كان تين هاج سيتواصل معه: “لا توجد فكرة لدي”.

وأضاف: “عليه أن يناقش هذا الأمر مع وكلائي، أنا أركز هنا، سنرى ما سيأتي، في هذه اللحظة أشعر أنني في حالة جيدة هنا”.
