The ICC has clarified that the forthcoming Champions Twenty20 League in India in October this year has not been included in the Future Tours Programme (FTP), contrary to some media reports

Modi, the IPL chairman, told the tournament’s site the “Champions League has already been slotted in as part of the FTP”, but Haroon Lorgat, the ICC chief executive, has denied the claim.”The ICC Board, which includes all Full Members, worked together last October to come up with a date for this year’s Champions League tournament that was mutually convenient for all,” Lorgat said in a statement. “However, that was only as part of a wider discussion on when we could play the Champions Trophy, which was postponed from Pakistan in 2008 and relocated to South Africa.”The FTP does not include any fixtures between domestic teams, even those from more than one country, and only features ICC events, such as the ICC Cricket World Cup, the ICC Champions Trophy and the ICC World Twenty20, and bilateral fixtures between Full Member international teams.Lorgat added that he had been in contact with Modi, and the pair were in “full agreement on this matter.”The Champions Twenty20 League, sanctioned by the ICC, gets underway on October 8, just five days after the conclusion of the Champions Trophy in South Africa. The tournament, which will feature the top domestic Twenty20 teams from Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa and the West Indies, finishes on October 23. The inaugural edition was set for last year but it was cancelled following the terror attacks in Mumbai.The 2009 edition will feature 12 teams instead of eight and the venues will be decided next month.

The Scottish Sun shared a story regarding the 11-assist defender on Wednesday, with their opening line suggesting Ralston is on course for a new contract.

They then shared comments from Postecoglou, who confirmed that interim CEO Michael Nicholson is handling discussions prior to the trip to Easter Road to face Hibernian.

Ralston has been a beast for the Hoops this year and the club’s best WhoScored performer by some distance, so an increase on his current £5,500-a-week contract is the least he deserves.

It seems as if that will be finalised, going off this recent update, and hopefully, Ralston will continue to shine in green and white heading into the New Year, helping Celtic push up the table in the process.

As per journalist and La Liga expert Guillem Balague, Emery is set to reject an approach from the St. James’ Park faithful, after having doubts over their vision for the club.

It was reported by The Athletic that Emery was the favourite for the job with Eddie Howe as the alternative, but the Spaniard has now released a statement confirming he will stay at Villarreal (via Craig Hope).

The Latest: Jones pushes for Martinez

According to Football Insider, Jones has ‘massively pushed’ for Martinez to be given the new manager role.

A source from the North East club has revealed that the interim coach has ‘made it clear’ to the board that his former co-worker at Belgium should be the permanent successor to Steve Bruce.

He believes that the Spaniard ‘can be lured’ for his current position as Belgium coach, and Martinez is seen as a ‘realistic’ target for the new owners, as experience of managing in the Premier League is ‘key’ for them.

Hyderabad, Bangalore and Delhi will host the inaugural Champions Twenty20 League between October 8 and 23 this year. The cities are the home venues of the three IPL teams taking part in the tournament – Deccan Chargers, the winners of IPL 2009, Royal Challengers Bangalore, the runners-up, and Delhi Daredevils, who qualified by virtue of finishing first in the group stage.The Indian franchises will be competing against domestic Twenty20 teams from other countries: Victoria and New South Wales from Australia, Cape Cobras and Eagles from South Africa, Otago Volts from New Zealand, Trinidad and Tobago from West Indies and Wayamba from Sri Lanka. The English teams will be determined after their Twenty20 Cup ends in August.The 12 teams will be split into four groups of three and, after a league phase, the top two from each group will progress to the second round. The top four teams from the second round will then qualify for the semi-finals. The schedule for the 23-match event, though, will be announced only on July 30.Lalit Modi, the Champions Twenty20 League chairman, said the IPL’s success in South Africa proved the club concept would be accepted by cricket fans across the world. “The Champions Twenty20 League is thus the ideal tournament to crown the best-of-the-best in club cricket from across the cricketing world,” Modi said. “This time around we are fully equipped to conduct an extremely successful tournament in India and given the cooperation of our fellow cricket boards from Australia and South Africa, I am confident that the Champions Twenty20 League will truly be a global event.”An initiative of three founding members – the BCCI, Cricket Australia and Cricket South Africa (CSA) – the tournament will have prize money of US$6 million.

Cuca começou a fazer os primeiros testes pensando no jogo contra o Atlético-MG, no próximo dia 9, e tem, a princípio, três dúvidas. O técnico estuda quem escolher para lateral esquerda, meio-campo e ataque. Egídio, Michel Bastos, Thiago Santos, Bruno Henrique, Guerra e Dudu são os concorrentes.

Entre Michel Bastos e Egídio, o camisa 15 saiu na frente, começou os treinos da semana com o time principal, mas foi o ex-titular o destaque do jogo-treino de sexta, contra o Red Bull. Foi de Egídio, inclusive, o gol do Verdão no empate. Cuca já disse que o camisa 6 é o melhor lateral do elenco, mas desde o pênalti perdido contra o Barcelona (ECU) decidiu poupá-lo e nem o relacionou nas três partidas seguintes. Ele volta à disputa justamente para enfrentar o Galo.

No meio-campo, Thiago Santos e Bruno Henrique são os concorrentes. Durante a campanha do título brasileiro, Cuca escalava um jogador mais marcador junto com Tchê Tchê e Moisés em partidas fora de casa. Por isso, o camisa 21 tem chances de entrar contra o Galo, em Belo Horizonte, na vaga de Bruno, titular contra o São Paulo e também nos treinos deste semana.
