But in the meantime they need to make sure that there is not too much for Ajmal to do. On the third day at Hove, Worcestershire looked to have uncovered a solution: two men combined to do what, last season, was the work of one Ajmal.The identity of the first name was not surprising. Sachithra Senanayake, another man to have remodelled his action following the ICC clampdown on throwing last year, was signed expressly to provide his best Ajmal impression. After beginning the match bowling too short, Senanayake located a fuller length, relentlessly probing outside off stump. He snared the last four wickets with a healthy dollop of bounce and turn on a pitch that might have got Monty Panesar longing for a return to the South Coast.But the identity of his offspin twin, who dismissed three of Sussex’s top five, was rather more surprising. Before today Alexei Kervezee had taken two first-class wicket – both for Netherlands – in 88 games. He was even listed as a medium-pace bowler.For the second time in the match, Ed Joyce and Matt Machan added a sparkling century stand for the second wicket after the early loss of Luke Wells. With a sumptuous day to enjoy, it provided the perfect backdrop for locals to enjoy the ground’s generous selection of gelatos; the pistachio comes particularly recommended.While less belligerent than during his 70-ball century in the first innings, Machan counter-punched pugnaciously after a dicey start – surviving a sharp slip chance off Charlie Morris on 4 – and it might have been with a little desperation that Daryl Mitchell asked Kervezee to bowl.”It was a surprise,” Kervezee admitted. But over his 15-over spell either side of lunch, the game was transformed. Machan was trapped lbw playing across the line to a quicker ball and Luke Wright was caught at short leg to a ball with extra bounce. And then, most significantly of all, a deliciously flighted ball tempted Ed Joyce, who had held Sussex together with his typical blend of serenity and panache, into slashing to slip.Despite some pyrotechnics from Ajmal Shazhad, including a slog sweep for six off Senanayake, Sussex were becalmed, and their last five wickets mustered only 57. It was a bowling performance of tenacity and skill from Worcestershire, and not all about spin, either: Morris moved the new ball with menace while Jack Shantry was typically wholehearted. At times only the grunt Shantry emitted in his delivery stride disturbed the tranquility at Hove; clean-bowling Ben Brown after a sprightly 44 was a wicket well earned.For Worcestershire to record their first victory in Division One since July 2012 – when Moeen Ali took 12 wickets at Old Trafford – the 14 overs they had to endure tonight shaped up as crucial. It was certainly enough time for Steve Magoffin, who has 207 first-class wickets for Sussex at 20 apiece, to ravage their top order.Not on this occasion. The rangy Magoffin began with a wide, and Richard Oliver and Daryl Mitchell both exuded calm at the crease, knocking off 47 of the 247 needed. With Tymal Mills very unlikely to bowl due to a back complaint, the onus falls more than ever on Magoffin. As well as their quicks, Sussex also have Ashar Zaidi’s left-arm darts and Luke Wells’ legspin, which claimed two wickets in the first innings, but Hove has become greedy for more venomous twirlymen.”Mushtaq Ahmed would be nice right now,” Luke Wright said after the close. In his absence, as Wright conceded, Worcestershire should be considered slight favourites to chase down an even 200 on the final day.

Isto permite que todos canalizem esforços para o melhor funcionamento da operação de marketing, sem que um departamento de futebol se oponha à realização de uma atividade (aqui tratada como) paralela, ou que os jogadores se incomodem com esta agenda. É calendário, é parte do processo, assim como os exames médicos na volta da temporada. Tem data pra acontecer, todo mundo sabe quando vai rolar e pode se planejar para, simplesmente, fazer o melhor em prol do marketing e da comunicação com os fãs/consumidores, que são quem pagam essa conta toda.

Afora que os Media Day geram uma mobilização coletiva dos agentes participantes e fazem com que, nas redes sociais de praticamente todos os envolvidos, o tema ganhe destaque e primazia. Cria-se uma blitz temática que varre os feeds dos fãs/consumidores e permite o produto se destacar na chuva de conteúdos que invadem nossas vidas diariamente.

São diversos os fatores que dificultam isso acontecer no futebol brasileiro, a começar pelo descrito no primeiro parágrafo: ainda estamos na idade da pedra lascada no que diz respeito a planejamento de produto. Mas não é só isso. A lógica de colaboração entre as equipes, que permite a compreensão de que o todo é maior do que a soma das partes, não existe por aqui em nenhum nível e precisa urgentemente voltar a ser tratada como único meio de se manter os nossos campeonatos relevantes.

Em um produto como os Media Day, a maior parte dos clubes – sobretudo os de maior investimento – tenderia a fazer da sua ação um ativo próprio, a mercê única e exclusivamente dos seus interesses comerciais. Na NBA, LeBron James não tem um calendário diferente do sérvio Vanja Marinkovic, último rookie draftado para esta temporada.

A regra no mundo digital é que todo produto será maior quanto mais gente unir força em torno dele. Na música temos um bom exemplo disso, onde os “feats”, músicas com participação de mais de um artista, ditam os maiores sucessos nas playlists de serviços de streaming, por vezes juntando até 8, 10 artistas numa mesma faixa. Por que? Porque já descobriram que, no digital, fazer sozinho é progressão aritmética, enquanto o compartilhamento em conjunto é exponencial.

Mais do que as discussões retóricas sobre os assuntos de sempre, penso que tem faltando discutirmos mais o negócio do esporte no Brasil. Isso inclui desde os dirigentes, atletas e confederações, mas também a imprensa. Enquanto não pautarmos a discussão pela experiência que o torcedor já poderia ter – e está tendo em outros produtos, sejam as ligas de fora, outros esportes ou até esportes eletrônicos -, vamos seguir falando de temas velhos, insossos e que sozinhos não são mais capazes de mudar nada. Não dá mais tempo de resolvermos só o básico. O corte tem que ser profundo e o básico virá à reboque. Ou não teremos tempo de nos recuperar.

Only skipper Mark Cosgrove, who closed on 65 not out, passed fifty for the Foxes as the ball seamed and swung throughout an extended single session of 48 overs.When play began at 3.30pm, Lancashire skipper Steven Croft, having resumed on 98 not out from his side’s overnight score of 356 for 9, reached his century with the 13th four of his innings before being caught at deep backward square by Rob Taylor off the bowling of Ben Raine.Needing 219 to save the follow-on, Leicestershire made the worst possible start when opener Angus Robson was given out caught by Karl Brown at short-leg off the bowling of Kyle Jarvis. The young Australian made his disagreement at the decision uncomfortably apparent.Ned Eckersley was then bowled by Tom Bailey, the tall young seamer bringing a delivery back into the right-hander and knocking his off-stump out of the ground. Lewis Hill fought hard before receiving a ball from Jordan Clark that rose viciously from a length to take the edge, but Neil Pinner had less excuse for hanging his bat out at a Nathan Buck outswinger as he was unfussily held by Croft at second slip.Niall O’Brien joined Cosgrove in building a partnership of 59 for the Foxes’ fifth wicket. The Ireland international was dropped by both Ashwell Prince at third slip and Alex Davies behind the wicket, the latter a difficult chance diving away down the leg side, before Davies accepted a much simpler chance off Jarvis when O’Brien had reached 22.At 137 for 5 Leicestershire were still 231 adrift, needing another 82 to save the follow-on. Cosgrove, having played and missed a number of times early in his innings, was beginning to play more fluently, hitting eight fours in going to his half-century. Ben Raine gave him valuable support in a partnership of 51 for the sixth wicket, but in the penultimate over of the day the allrounder chopped a short wide delivery from Buck – a former Leicestershire team-mate – into his stumps.”It’s not a great position, but we battled on and I’m not even thinking about the follow-on being a factor,” said Cosgrove, who closed on 65 not out. They bowled pretty well early, but you just have to stay out there, and the longer you do the easier it gets. Tomorrow morning I need to get myself back in and go on and get a big one, and we’ll see where the game goes from there.”

A Conmebol, organizadora da Libertadores da América, convocou reunião para esta terça-feira com os representantes de Flamengo e River Plate (ARG), clubes que disputarão o título da Copa no dia 23 de novembro, além de membros das federações de futebol do Brasil, Argentina e Chile. O objetivo é “revisar todos os aspectos da organização da final única”, que, por ora, segue confirmada para o Estádio Nacional de Santiago, no Chile, com início às 17h30 (de Brasília).

Os presidentes Rodolfo Landim, do Flamengo, e Rodolfod’Onofrio, do River, estarão presentes. A Conmebol confirmou o encontro, o qual acontecerá na sede da entidade em Luque, no Paraguai, em seus perfis oficiais.

Em meio aos protestos em Santiago, a Conmebol – com o aval do governo local – confirmou na última semana a realização da decisão única na capital chilena. As manifestações são contra medidas econômicas do governo do presidente Sebastián Piñera.

Outro eventos, comoApec e COP 25, marcados para novembro e dezembro, respectivamente, foram cancelados. O departamento de futebol do Flamengo tem a logística definida para Santiago – com hotel, deslocamentos e local de treinos -, tendo enviado um representante para a cidade na última semana.
