O Botafogo-SP lançou nesta quarta-feira (8) uma campanha pelas redes sociais em que o torcedor do clube poderá escolher o novo modelo do uniforme número 2 para o restante da temporada. A votação está disponível e termina às 16h desta quinta-feira (9).

O novo uniforme continuará sendo listrado nas cores vermelha, branca e preta na parte da frente da camisa. Porém, o torcedor vai escolher como ficará a parte de trás: vermelha ou preta.

Na cor vermelha, a manga será preta com detalhes em vermelho. Já na opção preta, a manga também será preta com detalhes em vermelho.

Um atacante reserva era uma das prioridades do Botafogo no mercado para a disputa do Campeonato Brasileiro. A ideia de ter uma opção direta a Pedro Raul – que havia participado de alguns jogos antes da paralisação no ‘sacrifício’, com dores musculares – foi solucionada com Matheus Babi, destaque do Macaé no Campeonato Carioca.

O reforço começou a treinar com o grupo no retorno do Botafogo às atividades presenciais ao Estádio Nilton Santos, pouco mais de uma semana antes do recomeço do Campeonato Carioca. Desde então, vem se adaptando e agradando membros da comissão técnica.

A confirmação veio no último sábado. Matheus Babi entrou no segundo tempo e marcou o gol do empate no amistoso realizado diante do Fluminense, o primeiro com a camisa alvinegra.

-O Babi tem surpreendido muito toda a gente, no dia a dia, nos treinos. Será uma competição importante e quem ganha com isso é o Botafogo com alternativas. Isso força uma competitividade interna interessante – afirmou o treinador Paulo Autuori, após a partida.

Matheus Babi e Pedro Raul travam uma disputa saudável pela posição. O segundo é um dos artilheiros do Botafogo na temporada, com cinco gols. A procura da diretoria era por um jogador que pudesse substituí-lo, ocasionalmente, à altura, com o intuito de fortalecer o elenco.

– Se for ver só o fato de fazer o gol, aí vamos falar do Babi. Mas fizemos um início de jogo muito bom e vi o pivô do Pedro Raul com muita qualidade várias vezes. Falar que ele não fez um bom jogo eu não posso concordar. Fez um jogo bastante interessante com aproximação do Honda e do Nazário, tivemos saídas muito rápidas e ele foi importante pela parede que fazia, atraindo um dos dois zagueiros para a entrada do Luis Henrique e do Rhuan. Como treinador, não vou julgar o jogador só pelo fato de fazer gol – completou Autuori.

Clube que nos últimos anos se acostumou a vibrar com feitos importantes (conquista da Série D em 2019 e finalista nessa temporada do Campeonato Catarinense, a manhã dessa quinta-feira (13) foi de luto para o clube e também a cidade de Brusque. Em nota oficial, o clube confirmou a morte do médico, diretor e ex-presidente do clube, André Karnikowski.

Karnikowski estava internado no Hospital Imigrantes desde o último dia 22 de julho, região central da cidade, tendo chegado a apresentar complicações respiratórias após o diagnóstico positivo do novo coronavírus. Ele tinha 54 anos de idade tendo 23 deles sido dedicados ao clube em diferentes funções.

Em nota de pesar, quem deu uma declaração mais sentida e em representação de toda a diretoria foi o atual presidente do clube, Danilo Renzini, trazendo todo o sentimento de dor que assola os integrantes da equipe catarinense:

Aston Villa could be offered Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as part of Liverpool’s efforts to sign Douglas Luiz, according to Calciomercato.

The lowdown

The Brazil midfielder is very much a wanted man as he nears the end of his contract next June. Arsenal made three bids to sign him on Deadline Day, the last of which was worth £25m, but Villa turned them down and denied him the move.

As such, the January transfer window might well represent their final opportunity to sell him before he can leave on a free.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is a player in whom the Villans already shown an interest, as per a report from The Mirror’s John Cross.

The latest

According to Calciomercato, Liverpool want to reinforce their midfield and have identified Luiz as their ‘main target’.

They are not the only club in the hunt for the Brazilian, with the Serie A trio of Roma, Milan and Juventus all interested as well.

Crucially, though, the Reds may have an ‘ace up their sleeve’ in the form of Oxlade-Chamberlain, a player who ‘Gerrard likes’. The 29-year-old could ‘enter the negotiation’ and move in the opposite direction to Luiz.

The verdict

According to Transfermarkt’s estimations, Luiz is the second most valuable asset in the Villa squad at £34.2m, so it would seem like very poor business to let him leave without gaining anything in return.

Gerrard is a fan of Oxlade-Chamberlain and may feel as if he can revive a career which is stalling at Anfield, with the former Arsenal man left out in the cold during last season’s run-in.

The admiration would certainly appear to be mutual based on comments from the 29-year-old in 2017, when he said that he had ‘always wanted to be Steven Gerrard’.

Ranking in the top 10 percentiles among positional peers in the big five European leagues for non-penalty goals, non-penalty xG, progressive carries, dribbles completed and progressive passes received, he is similar in stylistic profile to the likes of Jude Bellingham, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva (via FBRef).

The £120,000-per-week midfielder, who has won the Premier League and Champions League among other tropgies at Anfield, has been called ‘spectacular’ and ‘outstanding’ by Jurgen Klopp, and he could be well worth exploring as a possible makeweight if Villa are left with no choice but to part with Luiz.

Crystal Palace officials watched FC Porto in action on Saturday, including one summer transfer target, according to a report from Portuguese newspaper O Jogo (via Sport Witness).

The lowdown

Palace spent £31.14million in the transfer window just gone, bringing in four new faces – midfielder Cheick Doucoure, defender Chris Richards, goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and winger Malcolm Ebiowei.

The verdict

Who was the object of Palace’s attention? Well, the likeliest candidate is probably the winger Pepe.

A Bola previously reported that the Eagles had ‘collected information’ about the player and were keen on signing him.

Palace were said to be willing to pay a record fee of £43m to secure the deal, though Porto were asking for £51m and the player’s release clause is even higher at £60m.

The 25-year-old, who has 14 G/A in 48 games for Porto, is predominantly a left winger, and so may be viewed as a potential successor to the out-of-contract Wilfried Zaha.

However, he was deployed as a right-back for just the sixth time in his professional career on Saturday.

He turned in a decent performance across 83 minutes on the pitch, completing two out of three dribbles and creating a chance (via SofaScore).

Porto open their Champions League campaign against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, and Palace might have one eye on them again.

What’s the talk?

Transfer insider Pete O’Rourke has revealed that Ange Postecoglou will be bugging the board to wrap up a move for the Portuguese forward as quickly as possible.

He is currently on loan from Benfica and the reporter does not believe that they will encounter any problems with his contract.

O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “Obviously they have got that option to buy in there, so the fee is all agreed, Celtic just need to stump it up and I’m sure personal terms won’t be an issue.

“Postecoglou will be calling on the Celtic hierarchy to get this deal done so he can start preparing for next season with Jota in his plans.”

Supporters will be buzzing

This update will surely leave the Celtic supporters buzzing for multiple reasons.

Firstly, they will be pleased to read that personal terms will not be an issue. Whilst the transfer fee has already been agreed, the Hoops would not be able to sign him permanently if he was not willing to put pen to paper on a long-term contract at Parkhead.

However, this fresh claim from O’Rourke suggests that he is open to staying in Glasgow beyond the end of the campaign, allaying any fears that he viewed his future elsewhere.

The fans will also be delighted as signing Jota will be a major deal for the club. He has been a huge player for Celtic throughout the campaign and the supporters will surely want to see him in action for Postecoglou next term, with his exciting play out on the wing.

In 27 Premiership outings, the 23-year-old has scored nine goals and provided ten assists. He has created a whopping 15 ‘big chances’ and 2.1 chances per match in the division – showing that he has been able to deliver in the final third on a regular basis in the Scottish top-flight.

He also caught the eye in the Europa League earlier in the season. Jota was directly involved in four goals (two goals and two assists) in five starts in the competition – averaging a SofaScore rating of 7.40. The winger has the quality to make a big impact in Europe and that makes him a key player ahead of a potential Champions League campaign next term.

Fans will, therefore, be buzzing with Postecoglou pushing for this deal to be done as he is a terrific player who can have a major impact on the team next season, just as he has in the current one.

Tottenham Hotspur may have been handed a potential transfer boost as they eye a move for Villarreal star Arnaut Danjuma, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

Speaking to GiveMeSport in sharing what he’s ‘heard’, Sky Sports journalist Bridge has now hinted that Danjuma could be open to joining Spurs.

The reporter says that the 25-year-old would ‘like to come back to England’ amid reports Tottenham have registered their interest.

Bridge explained: “The little bits I’ve heard here and there is that he’d like to come back to England. He’s enjoyed his time in Villarreal, but I don’t know how happy he is there.”

The Verdict: Make a move?

As this claim emerges that Danjuma is in fact eyeing a move back to England, we believe that Paratici shouldn’t hesitate in giving him the opportunity to sign on the dotted line.

The Dutchman is one of Unai Emery’s most potent attacking threats, ranking among the most goals and assists combined (13) for Villarreal over the 2021/22 domestic season (WhoScored).

He also attempts the most shots at goal per 90 for Villarreal (2.7), illustrating his real menace going forward and leaving little wonder that his club saw fit to include a €75m (£64m) release clause in his contract.

If Spurs can negotiate that price down in potential negotiations and persuade the La Liga outfit to sell for less, Danjuma may well be a brilliant capture if the north London club decide to advance.
