So for the second time in their streak of 13 victories, incidentally the longest for an Indian T20 side, Knight Riders batted first. It veered from their set game plan of allowing their spinners to tie up the opposition in knots before chasing a target but the end result was along expected lines, specially after Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey had razed the Dolphins attack with unbeaten fifties and a 153-run partnership, the highest stand in the Champions League.Dolphins made a small dent early in Knight Riders’ innings, getting rid of Gambhir and Jacques Kallis, and Kyle Abbott managed to slip in a couple of searching overs at the start, utilising some movement off the pitch. Then Uthappa and Pandey came together with the score at 34 for 2 in the fifth over and by the time the innings ended, their stand had come at a swift clip of 10 runs per over. Their batting was almost effortless, specially Uthappa’s, whose polished drives were mixed in with well-timed steers behind the wicket.Pandey, at the other end, used a swinging backlift to carve out fours and sixes. He also benefitted from two reprieves; he was dropped on 32 and 33 in the 13th and 14th overs and duly repaid Dolphins by smashing 42 off the next 19 balls he faced. He mauled Abbott, Dolphins’ best bowler, scything and swinging his way to 21 runs in the 18th over. The ease with which the pair accumulated the runs meant that Knight Riders coasted at more than eight runs an over for most of their innings, before ending at 187 for 2.In their previous games, Dolphins had shown glimpses of explosiveness in their batting but it didn’t come together in this game. The early wickets added to the pressure of a tall chase but there were bright spots for Dolphins, particularly the entertaining, and at times brash, 63-run partnership between Khaya Zondo and Andile Phehlukwayo. The latter survived an edgy start before slamming some powerful shots, including a reverse sweep off Sunil Narine that came off due to his late adjustment. Narine contributed 3 for 33 to the win, which now places Knight Riders behind Surrey and Otago on the list of teams with most successive wins in T20s.

The Zouks registered just their second win of the season while the Tallawahs wasted a chance to leapfrog the Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel into sole possession of first place in CPL 2014.The Tallawahs got off to a decent start after being sent in to bat as Chadwick Walton bashed five sixes on his way to top-scoring with 48 opening the innings. However, no one else in the top five made it past 10. Darren Sammy caused some middle-order damage with the wickets of Owais Shah for 8 and Adam Voges for 4.Mathew made further inroads with the wickets of Nkrumah Bonner for 10 and Andre Russell for 18 to deprive the Tallawahs their best chance of a strong finishing kick to the innings. Mathew dismissed Jerome Taylor on the first ball of the 20th for the last Tallawahs wicket as they were wiped out for 143, a paltry total considering the tiny boundaries at Warner Park.After Daniel Vettori removed Johnson Charles in the fifth over of the chase for 16, Andre Fletcher and Kevin Pietersen produced a 60-run stand for the second wicket as the Zouks coasted toward the below-par target. Pietersen’s mere presence underscored how badly he was missed throughout the earlier part of a season in which the Zouks middle order routinely folded cheaply. Fletcher played with increasing freedom and finished with a game-high 49 off 35 balls before he fell leg before to Russell in the 13th.Pietersen only made 23 by the time he was dismissed in the 16th to make it 119 for 3, but the stability he provided took pressure off the rest of the Zouks squad. Henry Davids (29 not out) and Sohail Tanvir (20 not out) finished off the match with ease as Tanvir clubbed two sixes in the 18th to finish off the game with 15 balls to spare.

O versátil meio-campista tenta tudo: passes rápidos, tabelas, lançamentos, carregar a bola… O problema é que sem ajuda e sem companheiros no mesmo ritmo fica difícil.

Outra vez a equipe insistiu em jogadas pelo meio, afunilando sempre os lances, facilitando a marcação rival. As raras tentativas de abertura pelos lados, geraram lampejos de oportunidades que não foram aproveitadas. A falta de repertório ofensivo tem ficado cada vez mais grave e provando que a chegada de um centroavante não vai resolver os problemas do setor, que também carece de criação e inspiração, algo que pode ser corrigido no meio-campo.

Para completar a atuação tenebrosa dos são-paulinos, não foram poucas as chances que o Avaí teve para abrir o placar. Todas diante de bolas perdidas, passes errados e inacreditáveis distrações do sistema defensivo. Caso tivesse enfrentado um time com mais capacidade ofensiva, certamente teria saído de campo com uma derrota. Não é exagero dizer que os catarinenses estiveram mais próximos da vitória do que os paulistas.

Isso sem contar os desfalques. Everton sentiu um incômodo na coxa direita e deixou o gramado ainda no primeiro tempo, não deve enfrentar o Atlético-MG, assim como Tchê Tchê, que levou o terceiro amarelo. O time que tinha a pretensão de somar 18 pontos nas primeiras nove rodadas, agora parece torcer para a chegada da pausa para a Copa América com o menor prejuízo possível.

The announcement of the national Test squad has been deferred until next week though a 28-man squad for a conditional camp has been named. The Pakistan Cricket Board, however, confirmed that Misbah-ul-Haq would remain Test captain despite their first loss to Zimbabwe in 15 years.Misbah’s captaincy came under severe criticism for Pakistan falling short in the first ODI before their loss in the second Test. In addition, Pakistan have won only one of five Tests this year – against the No. 9 ranked Zimbabwe – and are looking to remedy a 0-3 defeat in South Africa earlier this year.Amin has not played a Test in three years after he was axed during the 2010 tour of England that was marred by a spot-fixing scandal but is widely regarded as a future captain. He was the leading run-scorer, with 767 in nine matches at 45.11 in the President’s Trophy last season. Ao contrário de Guedes e Tchê Tchê, Keno é titular absoluto em sua equipe. Na temporada 2018/2019, ele foi escalado em 24 jogos e marcou nove gols. O Pyramids pagou 10 milhões de dólares (R$ 37,8 milhões) ao Palmeiras em junho de 2018 por 100% dos direitos econômicos do jogador.

A situação de Tchê Tchê anima mais o São Paulo porque ele não tem ido nem para o banco de reservas do Dinamo de Kiev, da Ucrânia. Se continuar assim, crescem as chances de um empréstimo para o segundo semestre.

Já Róger Guedes está bem longe. Ele não foi inscrito pelo Shandong Luneng, da China, na Liga dos Campeões da Ásia, mas os valores envolvidos fazem o Tricolor praticamente descartar a chance de acerto.

Tchê Tchê foi vendido pelo Palmeiras por 4,8 milhões de euros (R$ 20 milhões) em maio do ano passado, enquanto Róger Guedes foi negociado por 9,5 milhões de euros (R$ 43 milhões) – o valor foi dividido pelo Verdão com o Criciúma, que tinha parte dos direitos, e o Atlético-MG, clube para o qual ele estava emprestado.

A ideia de Cuca é montar um time mais leve, jovem e veloz. Foi por isso que Diego Souza acabou emprestado para o Botafogo. O atacante Luiz Fernando, pedido do treinador nesta negociação, cabe no perfil buscado pelo clube. Como os cariocas não quiseram liberá-lo agora, o São Paulo aceitou ficar com uma prioridade de compra e poderá cobrir qualquer proposta que surgir por ele.

O meio de campo e o ataque são as posições consideradas mais carentes. A tendência é de que atletas jovens e baratos sejam contratados. Jogadores como Keno, Guedes e Tchê Tchê só devem chegar por empréstimo e/ou com condições bastante facilitadas pelos clubes donos de seus direitos. Além de não ter dinheiro para investir, o São Paulo está com a folha salarial inflada.

Duncan Fletcher has been handed a one-year extension as India coach. He had taken over after India’s World Cup win in April 2011, signing a two-year contract. Trevor Penney, who joined as the fielding coach in May 2011, also gets a new one-year deal.The decision to keep Fletcher in charge was taken at the BCCI’s working committee meeting in Mumbai. India’s engagements over the next year including a challenging tour of current No. 1 South Africa, a tour of New Zealand, the Champions Trophy in England and the 2014 World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.”The board has decided to extend his contract,” BCCI president N Srinivasan told reporters after the meeting. “But we have to discuss the terms. I can’t tell you the deliberations of the board. All I can tell you is what is the decision. We have decided to extend it.”Fletcher’s extension had a lot to do with continuity during the team’s re-building phase, a board insider said: “He knows all the youngsters, including the fringe players, very well by now, so it was important to keep the same bond going for a developing side. The fact that virtually every youngster respects him a lot also played a part.”It hasn’t been a smooth ride with India for Fletcher. When he was appointed India were at the top of the Test rankings, but they quickly slid down the charts after comprehensive defeats on tours of England and Australia.
